Hmmm, not in my experience, for example after the last update InDesign is starting to have trouble with placing some older eps files and they won't open in Illustrator either, so ANY isn't correct. Of course it's just as good, whether most programs currenbtly available can still read it is the point. Irrellevant and brings up the point as to whether you know how a digital file works.
Saving it in eps is like saving InDesign files (or Freehand if you want to go that far back) as a PDF instead of native file format. If you created it in Illustrator keep it in Illustrator. Seems later eps standards do support object level transparency, so I was wrong about that. I hope this helped others understand what I’ve been teaching for nearly 20 years.
